Grand Father Clock Lime Tree House was bought by a benefactor as a home for Mrs Penny's collection and to serve as a permanent home for the Blandford Fashion Museum. This beautiful Georgian house was built by John and William Bastard after much of Blandford was destroyed by a great fire in 1731 and is typical of the well proportioned houses built at that time, and ideally suited to be a museum for the fine collection of historical costumes dating from the 1730's right up until the 1970's. The house has many period features both on the exterior and the interior of the building, having had this glimpse of Lime Tree House and Museum you will find it a friendly and delightful place to visit.

The museum is entirely managed by voluntary staff, who are always keen to show visitors the collection of costumes and accessories on display. The collection has been catalogued and many items have had conservation work carried out on them. The museum was awarded full registered museum status in 2001. Many costumes and accessories have been donated to the museum. There is always something to delight the eye of the visitor.

As well as annual exhibitions, A resources room has been opened giving students an opportunity for research into costume and textiles. In addition, suitcases containing items of costume and accessories meeting the keystages of the national curriculum can be hired on a weekly basis by schools.
